The Illustrated Art of War
The Illustrated Art of War is a classic for its publisher. The book was
previously printed as straight text, but I designed a re-issue based on a trim size
of 8-1/8 by 9-1/4. This format worked well with the grid: justified wide text with
hanging sidebar column with speakers' names in a second color. We used PhotoShop
clipping paths to silhouette the images. The typeface is Perpetua (one of my all-time
favorites) and the display is Charlamagne (ironically named after a general!).
