Slow Learner
For this Thomas Pynchon novel, I wanted to create a text page that was tall, slender and
classical-looking. My choice of Galliard for text and Michaelangelo for display enhances
the elegance I was seeking. One of the reasons I like to design books is the occasional
author feedback. In this case I did not hear directly from the elusive Pynchon, but his
editor said the author was quite pleased with the design (almost better than getting paid for the job!).
