Hammer. Nail. Wood.
The title page presented a challenge to me as a book designer. The editor wanted a
modern look combined with classical elegance. The book is like a collection of short
stories and I wanted to make the interior design reflect this distinctive style of
writing. Trixie, for the display type, is distressed-looking like the font of an
old Royal typewriter (which I imagined the author using), yet it has a contemporary
feel. The elegance of Minion for the text grounds the book.
